Project No Jeans #1

Posted on 08:24 by tripal h

With Spring finally upon us, and temperatures slowly creeping up, it is with immense gratitude that we're all putting away those thick jumpers and thermal underwear, and bringing out the lighter clothes. Unfortunately, when the weather gets really warm, there is one staple part of the wardrobe that just doesn't cut it in summer: The Jeans.

The problem with jeans is that they are never in or out of fashion, so we all know that we're safe wearing them. However, unless they're cropped, when the sun gets at its hottest, jeans are probably not the best clothing to be wearing, because boy do they get hot. This is why I have decided to launch Project No Jeans: The project that throws aside the jeans, and replaces them with...well, whatever takes your fancy really.

Being a bigger girl, I always find it hard to find my own style, so this is going to be a real challenge for me, on a personal level, but here is my first outfit "attempt" at throwing away those jeans!

What do you think?

Makeup in Film: Hunger Games Special: Effie's Eyelashes

Posted on 03:55 by tripal h

First of all, apologies for this post being a whole four days later (better late than never, right?) but I wasn't happy with the images that I had, so I took the time to do them again, using a different photo-editing program and hopefully the post will be better for it :)

I hadn't intended to write another Makeup in Film blog post relating to The Hunger Games, but this was something that I just could no resist sharing because they're so damn cute!!

You might remember when I looked at Effie Trinket, I fell in love with these eyelashes:

I really should point out that I am not particularly a false eyelash wearer. I think that they can look fantastic, but I've never managed to find a pair that I felt comfortable wearing. Maybe I just need to get used to them, I'm not sure, but for these specific ones, I think I'd be willing to give it a shot.

At the time of writing my previous post, I wasn't sure if these lashes were available to buy, in the shops, so I was really happy when yesterday, a lovely reader shared a link to the Sephora website, and look what we have here:

These gorgeous lashes are made by a company called Paperself who after doing a little bit of research do some bloody amazing and creative eyelashes that really would convert anyone to giving them a try. The ones that Effie wears are called "Deer & Butterfly eyelashes", which intrigues me because even though I knew the lashes had butterflies on them, I'd completely missed the deer!

Even on the above image of the lashes, I'm finding it hard to spot the deer, and yet I can definitely see them on the images of the eyelashes where they're not being worn!

Unfortunately, the Sephora website only ships throughout the USA and Canada, so for those of us that live in the UK or anywhere outside of the USA and Canada, whilst it is great to know that it is possible to buy the eyelashes, it's no use to anyone looking to buy them, which seemed a shame. But, the information wasn't entirely useless, because at least I now knew exactly what product I was looking for, by company and my product name, so I was determined to find at least one stockist in the UK that supplied them!

So, I decided to have a look around, and this is what I found:

ASOS was the first website that I found them on, costing just £12, which I didn't think was too bad, considering how beautiful these lashes are, unfortunately, at the time of writing this, the lashes were out-of-stock, which was a little disappointing, but at least I knew for certain that the lashes were available in the UK, so I decided to continue hunting:

Also charging £12, Zuneta had also sold out of the full-size deer and butterfly lashes, however, they also sell smaller versions of the same ones, which focuses more on the butterfly and the deer antlers. Okay, so they're no the full ones, but they are still beautiful and only £10 for two pairs allowing you to create some interesting looks.

HQHair seemed to be one of the only website that still has some in stock, again for £12 and I am really tempted to pick some up!

Effie, however, wasn't the only character in The Hunger Games to be found wearing Paperself eyelashes, however. Does anyone know who, and in which scene, these beautiful lashes were worn?

Would you wear these lashes?

NOTD: I like to Mauve it, Mauve it

Posted on 15:42 by tripal h

Before I begin, I just wanted to have a little ramble: Basically, I've been a little quiet in the land of Barefeet recently. It's not a case of not wanting to blog any more, and I'm certainly not disappearing on you all, my amazing followers, but I have gotten to a stage where I feel like I need to spend a little less time here, because well, I'm sure most of you understand, I'm just running low on time that I can spend working on it. So, I've decided that I'm going to cut-down how often I post, and I'm going to concentrate mainly on my Makeup in Film posts, and NOTD posts, purely because these are the posts that I enjoy doing the most, and I don't want to churn out random crappy posts just to get a post out there, because that's just wasting my time and yours too. Of course, this means that I might not be doing many product reviews, which have been a bit few and far between for a while. I might still pop up the occasional review, because I do have plenty of things in my "To Review" pile.

So ultimately, this means that I'll probably only be posting two or three times  a week, just for a little, and I hope that you all understand :)

Anyway, back to today's Nail of the Day, and I have another confession today, because the polish that features doesn't actually belong to me *ahem*, but it was one that I hijacked from my Mum whilst she was at work, last week!

I find this a really interesting colour, because here I personally think that it looks like a pinky brown shade. However, my Mum picked up a bottle of this polish in Sallys today, and it looked much more of a pink, and the images really are true to the colour that they are. So, I can only assume that this is one of those shades that always looks different, in varying lights.

But it's still a very nice shade whatever colour it really is, this is what the shade is:

Yup, of course it's OPI and it is their Mauving to Manitoba. After looking at the title of the shade, I decided to look up what colour "mauve" actually is, and various websites stated different things, from purple to pink, and the Lena White website describes it as a "purple-rose", but gosh, I never once looked at it and thought of a purple shade. Hmm, kind of interesting!!

What do you think of this colour?

Make Up in film: Hunger Games Special: The Final Countdown

Posted on 07:48 by tripal h

Four more sleeps to go until I get to see this film, and this is of course the last time that you guys have to listen to me harping on about The Hunger Games, on this blog. Instead, all Hunger Games banter will be shifted back over to its rightful place, which is over on the entertainment blog (Shameless Plug: Check it out for Film Chat, News and Stuff!!)

So, I spent ages trying to decide who should have the honour of being the face of my final Makeup in Film: Hunger Games Special. But, the problem is that there are too many intriguing aspects of makeup, costume and design that intrigues my little mind, and that I want to share. And unfortunately, I just don't have the time or the blog space to talk about them all. Therefore, I decided to do a quick compilation of all of the main actors and characters, and take a look at how much they've been transformed for this film. I hope that you enjoy :)

After my previous post, in which I featured Effie Trinket, quite a few people commented that they would never have guessed that Effie was really Elizabeth Banks. Literally nothing of the actress shows through, especially in the publicity shots and I think that that is a great example of how this film is representing the oppressed Capitol citizens, where no part of the person underneath really shows through. Instead, what we see is fake and artificial.

Apparently Josh Hutcherson put on roughly 14lb of muscle for his role as Josh Hutcherson, and for that we thank you! So, extra muscle and blonde hair and ta-da we have Peeta Mellark!

Other than the beard, Wes Bentley hasn't really changed that much when you compare these two images. In fact, it's actually kind of weird that the images look so alike, with similar expressions...!! Apparently, Bentley loves his beard, and I have to admit that I think it looks pretty awesome!

Woody Harrelson wasn't really what I imagined when I read the books. Indeed, I had Haymitch down as being a bit older, fatter and a considerable amount scruffier than Harrelson is, but I still think he looks great.

Before anyone complains, I chose not to include a picture of Liam Hemsworth/Gale Hawthorne in this piece for two reasons. 1. I couldn't find that many images of Gale, and 2. I didn't really feel that he'd changed that much from actor to character, so it didn't really feel worth the mention.

Which actor do you think had the best transformation overall?

NOTD: Mother's Day Special

Posted on 03:00 by tripal h

Some of you might have noticed that I didn't do a NOTD on Friday. The lack of post was for other reasons, but the lack of a NOTD, more specifically, was because I was saving it for today, which I hope that everyone has remembered is Mother's Day. Basically, this weeks NOTD features my Mum (noting that she doesn't know that I'm posting this) and her current love for OPI, which, like me she loves because the polishes apply so nicely.

But anyway, here is a look that she wore for a Night Out just before Christmas and that she really loved, and I know that she still does:

As you can tell, I don't get my nail biting from my Mum, who has much nicer and longer nails than me (although I'm getting there!!). This look is actually two nail polishes, with the "colour" of the look coming from the very first OPI nail polish that my Mum purchased on the P&O Ferry between Hull and Amsterdam:

When the description for Diva from Geneva says that it is a "vibrant" shade, it really isn't kidding, because it's such a gorgeous, creamy dark pink that looks fantastic worn alone, be even better jazzed up with a glittery top coat, especially for special occasions. In this case, the glittery top coat comes in the form of a polish from her OPI Muppets Mini Collection, which I have reviewed previously and that you can read here.

I absolutely love this image of OPI's Excuse Moi purely because it beautifully picks up all of the different colours of the glitter: the pinks, the greens, the oranges, the whites, the silvers, the blues. And it looks so pretty and sparkly, and everyone loves sparkles, right?

QUICK MUMMY TIP: One thing that my Mum has said several times, about using a glittery polish, is about how useful they are when you chip the main colour, and don't want to apply another coat. Instead, she likes to just apply Excuse Moi and it "hides" the problem perfectly.

So there you go, that is my Mum's Nail of the Day. Needless to say, I did get her an OPI nail polish for Mother's Day, but I'll share that with you, when she's actually had the opportunity to test it for herself (although, FYI, the colour is gorgeous, and I wish I'd bought another bottle for myself!! Not that I pre-tested it or anything ;P)

And on a final note, my cat of 18 years and 10 months Patch has always been one of those cats that likes to know what's going on, and when he caught me taking photos the other day, for the purpose of this post, he of course had to come and join me. And it really is incredible how fast those wobbly, old legs will move when he thinks that he's missing something!! So, here is a little message from our cat Patch:

What do you think of my Mum's nails?
How are you treating your Mum this Mother's Day :)

Tip: Flyaway Hair

Posted on 05:13 by tripal h

I think most of us suffer from flyaway hair. I'm not really talking about frizz, as such, but more static. Static is one of those things that I seem to suffer from on most days, and I can only assume that it's because my hair is so fine.  Something I read some time ago, suggested that static is due to the hair being "over-processed" or just too dry, which is why I decided to put this to the test and my solution does appear to work "most" of the time. As you can imagine, no tip is perfect, and probably won't be ideal for everyone. However, if you do suffer from static and you tend to straighten your hair, or curl it, quite a lot, then I really do recommend giving this a try. But, I most essentially recommend it to anyone who has fine hair.

One of the biggest causes of static, for me, has definitely been my hair straighteners, and it got me thinking about how drying this must be on my hair, especially with all that heat that I'm putting on my hair. The problem is, that not only do I have fine hair, but I also have greasy hair, so using Hair Serums is typically not an option for me, because they just leave my hair feeling gross.

A long time ago, I read a tip somewhere that suggested that if you are planning to straighten your hair, it is not recommended to blow dry your hair, but that you should allow it to dry naturally. Of course, for most of us, this just isn't realistic, so the idea was that if you do have to dry your hair pre-straightening, you should only dry it to roughly 80%. It's hard to know exactly what they meant by this, but I always try to leave my feeling damp, but very nearly dry.

The problem that I've always had with this piece of advice, has been that I remember reading somewhere that you should never straighten wet hair, because it damages your tresses. However, with hair straighteners that are specifically designed for wet hair, I'm always confused by that piece of information.

However, I have noticed that since I stopped drying my hair completely, with my hair dryer, straightening does appear to create much less static, which is fantastic.

So, the tip here really is:

To avoid static:
Don't completely dry your hair before straightening.

Lush Washing Up Fairy Review

Posted on 03:39 by tripal h

A few weeks ago, I decided to venture into the wonderful-smelling world of Lush for the first time since before Christmas, and before I descended on the poor Sales Assistants of Lincoln, I also decided that I would check out what exciting new products they had on offer, by taking a peek at their website. Now, I'm just going to say that I didn't actually get very far on the Lush website. Not because the website is rubbish, or wasn't working, or anything like that. But, because they made the absolutely fatal error of greeting me with a huge image of a great big fairy. Oh yes, you heard me correctly, a fairy.

Unfortunately, the website has changed since then, and though the fairy is still there, it doesn't quite have the same impact, so unfortunately, it isn't the same! Nevertheless, let me introduce you to one of the cutest Lush products ever...

As you might guess, from the title, this cute as little fairy is for doing the Washing Up, although I didn't buy it for my Mum...this one was most definitely kept for myself!

Although I was initially intrigued by this product, I have to confess that I had my reservations, purely over the longevity of the product. I mean, think of it this way: I currently use a standard, okay-smelling Fairy Liquid (sorry, this just makes me find the Fairy Wand even cuter, when you think of it alongside the Fairy Liquid Brand!!!), that cost me something like £1 for two bottles (it was on offer a while back, and I stocked up because I am really that sad!!), and anyone who has ever used Fairy Liquid (teehee!), or has ever seen the adverts will know that Fairy "goes along way", it's their trademark and it really is true, because it lasts for flippin' ages! So, my chagrin was really the idea of forking out £3.75 for a product that may not last very long.

I think my worry was really that this would be a Bubble Bar-type of product that crumbles and is gone fairly quickly. So, I asked one of the lovely Sales Assistants, in Lush, how long they lasted, and she assured me that the one she had been using, she'd had for at least ten days and it was still looking pretty much as it was, when she bought it (of course not entirely!). Needless to say, I gave it a try.

One of my favourite aspects, of Lush, is always the sheer lack of packaging. I like that any packaging that is used (because it's impossible to be completely packaging-free, let's be honest) is usually paper-based, meaning recyclable or it can be re-used (as in the tins, that I think they still do!). The Washing Up Fairy is of course no different, because it comes with a recyclable wooden stick, that is absolutely necessary (you'll understand why in a minute), but won't end up on Land Fill. Oh, and the stick features the words "Relax! I'll Wash Up Tonight, Mum!" I can almost hear the mother's of the nation silently begging their children to buy this product for Mother's Day, if not for the product, for the idea that the kids might want to actually use it to do the washing up!!!

Something else, about packaging, that I thought was quite cute, was how the paper bags that you buy products in, have a picture of a gift tag attached to them, where you can write who the product is for (if you're intending to give it as a gift) and who it has come from. This, of course saves on buying wrapping paper and gift tags, so another Environmentally Friendly addition!

The Washing Up Fairy is an absolute doddle to use, because all you need to do is hold the product by the stick (see, I told you that the stick was necessary), and run the product underneath the running tap. The stick is even more useful when you're running the steaming hot tap, because it prevents your (or your childs) delicate little pinkies from getting burnt!

The first thing that hit me, when I was running the fairy under the tap was the lemony smell that is just so zesty. It's funny how so many of us associate the smell of lemons with washing up, even though the product that I'd been using before wasn't actually lemon-based. But honestly, the smell is incredible. The only downside of the smell, is that once I'd stopped running the fairy under the tap, and I'd started washing up, the scent didn't seem to be quite as prominent. Maybe I should have used more product, I'm not really sure.

The second thing that hit me, was how quickly and easily the product foams in the water. Initially, I wasn't sure if it would foam at all, but I did notice that it has SLS listed in the Ingredients List for this, so I'm not really surprised that it foamed. I always feel a bit weary when I see synthetic-based ingredients, in Lush products, however, we're all used to products like this foaming, so how many of us would moan if it didn't??

I thought it was funny (I'm weird okay?!) that the water turned a lime green kind of colour, because I didn't expect that. I loved the fact, however, that it made the water really soft. That might sound strange, but when you leave in a hard water kind of area, that is always a good thing, and I liked that after I dried my hands, they felt really soft and not quite as wrinkly as they normally would be after washing up. Of course, they were still wrinkly, just not as much.

I think that this product is incredible. I've been using it regularly for just over a week now, and although the texture of the surface of the Fairy has changed dramatically (it has these weird bumpy bits in it, that I'd meant to take photos of, but I forgot!), it is still pretty much a similar shade and size to how it was when I bought it. If that's not a sign of longevity, I don't know what is.

I'd been a little concerned that the Fairy might come off the stick, however, it appears to be well wedged it between the pink fairy and the green wings, and from wiggling it about a little, it didn't appear to budge at all.

So yes, overall, I am very impressed with this product. It's one of those gimmicky products that you do feel is going to be all gimmick and no action, but I was definitely proven wrong, and I really hope that Lush decide to keep this product on, after Mother's Day, because it really is an ingenious idea. Of course it's a tad expensive, but let's face it, environmentally friendly products generally are more pricey.

You can pick up this amazing Washing Up Fairy, for £3.75, from the Lush website or from your nearest Lush store.

Makeup in Film: Hunger Games Special: Katniss Everdeen

Posted on 06:26 by tripal h

Week Three of our Hunger Games Makeup in Film Special, and another week closer to being able to finally see this film. I believe that tonight sees the premiere over the other side of the pond, in America, with the European Premiere taking place this Wednesday, at the O2 Arena, in London. It's funny, because I'm not really that interested in premieres, but if I could go to any premiere I wanted, it would definitely be this one.

I'd initially intended to save this feature for last (next week), but I changed my mind, at the last minute and opted to do this one, this week instead, purely because I'm not really sure who to focus on for the fourth feature in this series. But, here it is:

I feel quite lucky, in that when I read the books, by Suzanne Collins, I already knew who had been cast in the most predominant roles (Katniss, Peeta and Gale essentially), so when I was reading it, I found that I was imagining those actors when I was reading about their respective characters. For that reason, I've never had any issues with the casting of Jennifer Lawrence, in the role of Katniss. I know that quite a few fans had "better" ideas, including Kaya Scodelario (Effy, in E4's Skins) amongst other, and a few even had problems with the fact that Lawrence naturally has blonde hair (ever heard of hair dye, people). But, I feel quite glad that I had no preconceptions and I honestly do feel that she is the perfect casting. Not only because I knew of her, before I'd read the books, but because she is a great actress who had proven (in The Winter's Bone) that she can handle the grit necessary for a role like this.

I think that almost every girl has a famous female who they consider to be their "girl crush", and I will not deny that Jennifer Lawrence is currently leading the way, alongside Zooey Deschanel for me. Jennifer Lawrence just has this cuteness about her, that is absolutely adorable, and yet the roles that she plays are far from the cute girl-next-door type that you might expect her to play. In fact, her roles so far have been quite edgy.

I recently picked up the April issue of Glamour Magazine, because I wanted to try the free Hydrating Conditioner that came with it, and I noticed that there were several different covers, all of which featured the incredible Lawrence. However, it was this one that I ended up picking up, whether that was down to the product I wanted, or whether it was completely random, I haven't a clue, but my god, she looks absolutely incredible in this image:

I believe that the outfit (can you class this as an outfit?? It looks like a Swimming Costume, but I really don't think that was designed to go anywhere near a swimming pool!), is Prada, but I'm not 100% certain on that, so don't sue me!! But, whatever it is, it is the perfect "outfit" to show off Lawrence's absolutely incredible figure. If I had to say that I dreamt of being any body shape, it would be this one, and Lawrence looks beautiful in it, as she shows that curves can be beautiful. And Lawrence is definitely stunning.

This is going to sound incredibly strange, but I hope that some of you will understand what I mean. But, whenever I see images similar to the one above, I honestly do not see Jennifer Lawrence. I can only assume that it's the different hair colour, as well as the being stripped of the makeup that Lawrence typically wears, but all I see is Katniss. For me, I'm looking at Katniss Everdeen, as if inside my head she is a real person, who just happens to look a little bit like Jennifer Lawrence. But honestly, put a picture of blonde stunner Jennifer Lawrence, beside rougher-looking brunette Katniss Everdeen and I see two completely different people.

I really want to say that this is down to Lawrence's incredible Chameleon-esque acting skills, but I haven't had chance to see her properly, in this role to entirely judge. I honestly think that it's all down to the Katniss transformation. And that in itself is kinda crazy, because other than the hair colour, the makeup artists haven't really changed that much of her. Respectively, Katniss is the complete opposite of Elizabeth Banks' Effie Trinket, who underwent everything from huge coloured wigs, to sandpapering her skin and amazing false eye lashes to create her look. Instead, Lawrence was practically stripped (almost) all of her makeup to become Katniss and she sort of had what we could consider a "make under" for this role.

So yes, I'm not going to deny that I am in love with Jennifer Lawrence. If I could trade figures and looks with anyone, it would most definitely be her, because she always looks so bloody fantastic.

What do you think of the transformation of Jennifer Lawrence into Katniss?
Readers of the books: Airbrushing aside, is Katniss what you expected her to be, appearance-wise?

Bargain Hunting: A New Bag

Posted on 13:39 by tripal h

Regular readers might remember that some time ago, I picked up an amazing (well, in my opinion amazing) Accessorize shoulder bag from a Charity Shop where I live. I absolutely love that bag. However, seven months down the line, and the bag is started to show it's age a little bit, as the handles have become frayed and are starting to fall apart, irreparably. I'm slightly disappointed, but it sounds like a great excuse to purchase a new bag, right?

A lot of people might complain about a bag lasting only seven months, before it falls apart, but that's the joy of  bargain hunting in Charity Shops, and when you pay the meagre £1.50, you can't complain at all about it.

This one was a little more expensive at £3, however the straps seem to be a lot stronger than my old one, which is a huge bonus, for me. I was drawn to the bag because despite the cheap price tag, I think it has a look that it "could" be more expensive than it really is, which is always nice.

The only thing that I haven't been so keen about, regarding this bag, is that the overall space inside the bag is considerably smaller than my old one. Nevertheless, this could actually have more good points because at least I'll be forced to carry less in it, meaning it'll be lighter...right....right??

When I got this bag home, I actually got a little surprise, in the shape of the zips on the front, which I hadn't really expected much out of. And this really is evidence that I didn't explore this bag, pre-purchasing, as much as I'd thought that I had!!

There are two of these zips, one on each side of the front buckle, which I hadn't initially opened, because I'd just assumed that it was going to be a buckle that was "just for show", you know the decorative type that serves no real purpose. And so, I was expecting these two pockets to either not open at all, and were also be just decorative, or they'd be for two tiny pockets that served no real purpose other than perhaps playing home to chewing gum, or your spare coppers that would otherwise end up loitering at the bottom of your bag. But, how wrong was I when I opened all the zips and opened up the popper that the buckle was hiding. And this was revealed:

Yep, a whole new pocket, hidden at the front of the handbag. How awesome is that? Well, maybe I'm just really easily pleased (I know that a lot of the time I definitely am!), but I thought this was really quite nifty and handy. It's a neat place to store things like pens, lip balm and small notebooks (I am a writer, afterall!) that I might need at a moments notice and I no longer have to rifle around at the bottom of my bag to find them (or not, as the case usually is since no matter what size my bag is, big or small, it will inevitably turn into a never-ending bottomless pit of doom, swallowing my possessions up into it's depths!!).

For £3, I really adore this new bag and I can't wait to use it. Plus, I should also add that it came with a free gift. I decided that I perhaps wouldn't include a picture of the free gift, because well, I don't want you all getting too jealous and desperately wanting one of your own....this has to be the BEST free gift ever given away, ever....

I got...a free, USED emery board!!

Oh yeah, you read that right. A used emery board. Really jealous, huh? ;) Yeah, I didn't think so. I wasn't sure whether to be slightly grossed out, or mildly amused by it. I think I was more amused to be honest!! Needless to say, I threw that away!

So, there you go. That's my new handbag.
What beautiful bargains have you picked up recently?

NOTD: Pompously Purple

Posted on 04:33 by tripal h

To coincide with the return of the more miserable weather, which since initially writing seems to have again been replaced by beautiful sunshine,  I appear to have headed back towards a more wintry shade for this weeks Nail of the Day (I really should rename this Nail of the Week, shouldn't I??). However, I wanted to share this specific colour, because it's a shade that I've been pining over for absolutely ages, after seeing it reviewed on so many different blogs. However, I've only recently got round to grabbing it, when Tesco had a 2 for 3 offer on the entire Rimmel range.

So, here it is, for your viewing delights...

Although the photography kind of dulls the colour a little, Rimmel's Pompous is a shimmery purple shade that reminds me a great deal of the wrapper of Cadbury's Dairy Milk, which I've always felt was an incredibly beautiful shade of purple.

The thing that I really love about this shade, is how un-Rimmel it is. I, personally, have never owned a Rimmel nail polish that has shimmer. The ones I've bought are always plain colour, which I love, but sometimes it's nice to add a little shimmer to my life too!!

Indeed, the shade is so un-Rimmel in so many ways, that when I showed my nails to my Mum, she's expected me to tell her that the polish was by OPI, not only because we both appear to have become OPI Addicts recently, but because it just looks like the type of shade that OPI would sell. It's definitely not a shade we would associate with Rimmel.

But, I think that's pretty awesome, that you can find a shade that someone would think was a more expensive brand, when really you've paid roughly a third of the price for. And I also didn't have to trawl across the country to find somewhere decent that sold it.

What do you think of this Pompously Purple shade from Rimmel?
Do you know of any other Rimmel polishes that have a shimmer?
Am I just blind, or am I picking the wrong shades?

Help a Fellow Blogger #GoodbyeGFC

Posted on 04:49 by tripal h
Most of us are now probably aware that Google has withdrawn the use of Google Friend Connect for Non-Blogger bloggers. Unfortunately, this has left a fair few bloggers in "blogger exile", as their followers can no longer find them. So, Charlotte of Lipglossiping, and Liloo (@tsunimee) have launched a campaign to reunite bloggers with their followers:

http://twitter.com/lipglossiping/goodbye-gfc/members
Personally, I use bloglovin', but there are lots of other ways of following, including HelloCotton or even signing up for email updates etc.

I know that this doesn't personally effect me, being a blogger-based blog. However, I do feel strongly about supporting fellow bloggers, and most especially the ones that work damn hard to build something up, only for it to be ripped from under their feet just because Google decides "y'know what, we don't want anyone to have that anymore".

Thoughtful Thursday: 08.03.2011

Posted on 03:33 by tripal h
Today's thought I actually stole from my friend Andrea's Facebook Status, but I really loved it. I don't know where it originally came from, or if she made it up (she is creative after all ;P), but it is definitely worth sharing and of course thinking about :)
