Sponsored Video: The Evian Playground
Posted on 07:00 by tripal h
When I was in hospital last week, it snowed - a lot - as in, when I arrived there were only a few flakes of snow coming down, but when we came out seven hours later, our car was buried under several inches of the white stuff!
Being cooped up inside a hospital, I didn't actually realise how much it was snowing until I was taken for a Chest X-Ray, and the young lady who took me, commented on how the snow made it feel like Christmas. She went on to say that it was nice, because January is such a depressing month, because we're all skint after celebrating Christmas and New Years, the weather is generally miserable and the temperatures are typically really low.
It's funny that even though snow is cold and causes a lot of issues (especially across the UK), that if we're given the opportunity to enjoy it - rather than having to battle through it on our way to school or work, then most of us absolutely love the idea of snow.
There's something so innocent and pure about the idea of snow, perhaps because so many of us associate it with our childhoods and happy memories.
That's why I decided to share this sponsored video with you. From the bottled water company, Evian, is such a great idea especially at this time of year, and yes, before the real thing arrived!
This is such a fab idea, and it's fun to see that even people who you might not expect, are actually joining in or at least appreciating the innocence of snow, and most importantly, the power of play!

2013: Year of the Weight Loss
Posted on 04:45 by tripal h
For me, 2012 will pretty much be the year that I finally stopped biting my nails. Admittedly, at the minute most of my nails are relatively short in length, but it's nice to know that they're not like that because I bit them, but rather because they broke!!
Kicking the nail biting habit has always been a big issue since...well, since I started biting my nails at around the age of six. However, accomplishing it has really helped to motivate me to tackle another habit that I want to get rid of, and that is my unhealthy addiction to junk food. I know that I can get my act together, so this time I'm confident that I'm going to do it.
Some of you might already know this, but at the beginning of last week, I had a bit of a health scare that really shook me up. Although I've been assured that it wasn't - at all - as a result of my weight, I've still found that the reality of spending seven hours sat in A&E not being able to breathe properly, was enough of a shake up to get me to lose weight serious-style!
I've actually spent the last week, recovering at my parents' where my Mum has had me on a very high vegetable, fruit and soup diet. I did slip up on Saturday, when I ventured into town, when I bought a Shapers packet of Chocolate and Caramel Popcorn, but I'm not going to beat myself up about it, because I've been using an app that tells me what I need to do to burn off those excess (bad) calories, and hence I spent ten minutes burning them off intensely on my Stepper!
So far, I've lost about seven pounds and my Mum thinks that you can tell I've lost a little weight around my middle, which is great. I'm certainly feeling less bloated, and I'm not suffering any of the illnesses that I typically get from binge eating on incredibly bad snacks.
I've also noticed that when I had some Strawberry Fruit Flakes over the weekend, I found them to be far too sweet, so hopefully that is going to help kick the sugar addiction, because I'm pretty much the same with salt. My Mum cut out salt when I was in my teens, meaning that I never use it either and now there are some foods that I just can't eat because I find them to be far too salty, which is of course another thing I need to avoid.

So, that's a brief catch up on my current life events.
I hope that everyone else's New Years have gotten off to a good start :)

NOTD: Dark Skies
Posted on 03:28 by tripal h
What's this? A blog post? I know, it's been a while and I have so many Nail Polishes that I have to share that it would be rude not to start 2013 with one - even if it is 22 days late!!!
This Nail Polish is from the 17 range at Boots, and is part of their Fast Finish Collection that has claims of "Single coat high shine colour in 60 seconds"*. I'm not really sure how accurate that quite bold statement is because I certainly wouldn't wear this polish after only one coat - well, unless it was a very thick coat of polish.
The polish is called Navy Glint, and I can definitely tell why. It is a very dark midnight blue shade with a lot of tiny glitter particles that aren't in-your-face or over-the-top, but add a little sparkle to the colour, or the "glint" that the name implies.
As you can imagine, it's really difficult to get an exact match of the colour of this polish, but this last photo (my first attempt at Instagram, since I appear to have lost the cable to my camera, so had to use my phone instead!!) is probably the closest.
It is a very dark shade, that I can imagine a few people not being keen on, but I'm a huge fan of navy blue nail polish so combining it with a little sparkle is pretty fab in my books.
I picked this up from my local Boots store, and it was around £2.99. I'd include a direct link to the product that I bought, but as of writing this the Boots website appears to be having issues and keeps giving me a "Generic Error" message, but I'm sure it'll be easy enough to find :)

What do you think? A fab sultry colour for winter, or a bit too dark?
